summer plaid

A few weeks ago, I spotted this cute look on Danielle’s blog, and I had a bit of an epiphany–plaid doesn’t have to be just for fall and winter. I really love the way her colorful button-up looks with crisp white pants. I happened to have a bright plaid button-up in my closet, so I made a point of trying to create a similar look.

These pants are a new addition to my closet. I bought them as a lighter-weight alternative to my white skinny jeans–it’s just too darn hot to wear denim in the summertime around here! They’re really comfortable and the perfect length.

I tried to find a colorful necklace to go with the shirt, but I don’t own much in the way of pink or green jewelry. So a chunky white watch had to suffice.

pink + green plaid button-up {thrifted Old Navy}, $2 similar

white boot-cut pants {Old Navy}, $20 (<< now on sale for $17)

white wedge sandals {Chaps via Kohl’s}, $25

white watch {eBay}, $10

How would you make plaid appropriate for summertime?
