navy stripes + pink sequins

When I was a little girl, my grandmother had a list of rules surrounding what I should wear. Specifically, I wasn’t allowed to wear black, anything with cartoon characters, or sequins. That last one was pretty painful for 6-year-old Caroline–back then I wanted all the sparkles! So one day my mom bought me a white sequined headband and gave me instructions not to wear it around my grandmother. You better believe I wore that little headband every chance I could!

Fast forward two decades, and here I am again wearing sequins.

I had a Target gift card to use up a while back, and when I spotted this tee (fittingly, in the girls’ section), I knew I had to have it.

So here’s to being a big girlย and getting to wear whatever the heck I want!

navy + white striped anchor tee {Cherokee via Target}, $9 (gift carded) << now on sale!

navy shorts {Old Navy}, $10 similar

white wedge sandals {Chaps via Kohl’s}, $25

white watch {eBay}, $10

Did you have any rules surrounding what you could wear as a kid?

  1. Ah! I love that you can fit into girl’s clothing – this top is adorable! I keep seeing things in the kid’s section at Target that I would totally wear, hahaha. I love these shorts on you too, by the way ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. oh my gosh, i love this tee! and i love the story that accompanies it. it made me think about my own nana and how she’d always say she would disown my twin sister and i (seriously or half-jokingly, i’m not even really sure to this day, hehe) if we ever rode a motorcycle. but that’s something that’s stuck with me for sure! ๐Ÿ˜‰
