black, olive, + cognac

Another day, another melange of neutrals. I am definitely digging all-neutral looks these days, particularly those involving olive and cognac. Something about the changing seasons has me reaching for more muted tones instead of my usual brights!

I used to be one of those people who would never, ever mix black and brown in the same outfit, but I quite like the combination now. I think the key is to make sure there is sufficient contrast between the two shades.

Now I’m off to enjoy the weekend–a rare weekend that I don’t have to spend studying for biochem! Yay!

black + white patterned sweater {Old Navy}, $15 similar

olive pants {Wal-Mart}, $11 similar

cognac wedges {Jessica Simpson via 6pm}, $25

gold tassel necklace {Forever 21}, $8 similar

cognac satchel {Merona via Target}, $27

What are you up to this weekend?

  1. i really like the combination of black, olive, and cognac here, caroline! thanks for showcasing it to get the wheels turning in my own head about different color combinations i’ve never tried before. and enjoy your weekend!

  2. I really like this combination as well, Caroline 🙂 I’m going to have to pull out my black/white striped tee and wear it with my olive jacket and cognac flats soon (I haven’t worn my black/white striped tee at all during my capsule wardrobe yet!!) 🙂
