In my closet at least, plaid + denim are BFF. That is to say, I don’t think I’ve ever worn a plaid shirt with anything other than jeans. That’s not exactly an earth-shattering observation, as they’re both comfy weekend staples that hardly ever clash with each other. But after seeing “dressed up plaid” on bloggers like Lisa, I decided to go a little fancier.
I tried pairing my red plaid shirt with a few different types of bottoms, including navy work pants and a black leather skirt, but I finally settled on the one you see here. Pencil skirts are kind of annoying in that I feel like I have to suck in my gut all day, but they do have that classic, streamlined silhouette.
