spring white

DSC_9507I know that some (now outdated) rule dictates that “white shalt not be worn after Labor Day,” but I’m a little fuzzy when it’s acceptable to start wearing white. My mom says Easter is the appropriate start date, but I’m ignoring that for now. Mostly because it’s lovely outside, and I don’t care much about fashion “rules” anyway…but also because I’ve waited long enough to re-create this pin.

DSC_9475As I’ve mentioned before, I have a very complicated relationship with my white jeans. I love the idea of them, but I’m not sure we’re destined to be BFF. They’re certainly not the most flattering pair of pants I own, and denim is really not appropriate for summertime in Alabama (way too hot!). But alas, I keep them around anyway.

DSC_9513The rest of the outfit, however, consisted of several of my favorite clothing items: this adorable polka dot chambray shirt (scored from ThredUp*), crystal statement necklace, and my ever-present cognac wedges.

How would you wear white jeans?

  1. you look great in white jeans, caroline, i say keep them around! i live in minnesota and i saw a woman wearing white jeans last week and loved the look – it’s nice to see apparel choices that are fresh and bright at the end of a long winter and your look encompasses that as well! i love that crystal necklace – i’ve been searching for something similar, so thanks for linking to a couple options!

  2. I love love love this outfit!! Patterned chambrays, especially with polka dots, are so adorable! And that “no white after Labor Day” rule is totally mute now. I mean, winter white am I right? I did not mean to rhyme there…

  3. This is a fantastic outfit, Caroline! You look crisp and polished and springy all together 🙂 I actually found a pair of white pants recently (after 3 years of looking!!) and I wore them with my chambray shirt to a family gathering last weekend shamelessly, haha! I love the cognac belt and shoes here.
