not so mellow yellow

DSC_0471Several months ago, I had some credit on Twice* after selling a few items, so I decided to trade it in for the yellow skirt you see in today’s outfit. Online, the skirt appeared to be a lovely shade of yellow, somewhere in between “lemon” and “butter.”

DSC_0457When it arrived, however, I realized that it was more of a “highlighter” shade of yellow. Sure, I could have returned it–but it fit so well, and I actually didn’t mind the more vibrant color. I think I’ll be able to come up with several outfits for it over the course of the spring and summer.

DSC_0483Have you ever bought something online, only to be surprised by its actual color?

  1. Color surprises all. the. time. I’ve come to learn that some sites just aren’t meant for viewing through my laptop. Maybe that’s why most of my online purchases are neutrals… hm…

    • That’s probably not a bad idea–neutrals are safer in that respect. Generally though, I do try to see a piece in person before I buy it online (for a better price!).

  2. Oh my gosh, yes, that happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I had some rewards to use and ordered what I thought was a pink and white striped tee. When it arrived, however, the shirt was like neon orange/peach and white striped. Not really my style at all! Oh well!
