June 2015 Budget

In looking at my June purchases, I guess the theme of the month is “last chance.” That is, all of the items I bought this month were things I wished I had bought in store when I had the chance, but they sold out while I dithered about them. As a result, almost all of the items below were found on my beloved Poshmark. (It didn’t hurt that they ran several 99-cent shipping promotions throughout the month of June!) These days are also my last chance to get some use out of a lot of my normal clothes before I outgrow them due to pregnancy!

  • floral shorts {Gap via Poshmark*} $10 I’ve been looking for a pair of floral shorts for quite some time now. I actually already have a dress in this same print from Gap (seen here), and I like it so much I decided to go ahead and get the shorts too. I may not be able to wear them much this summer due to that whole pregnancy thing, but I know I’ll be happy I have them next year.
  • neon floral skirt {J.Crew via eBay} $35 Truthfully, I’m not a huge fan of neon. BUT, I do happen to like the way this particular piece looks with my favorite neutrals (navy blue, white, even gray). Again, this piece isn’t likely to make it into heavy rotation this summer. I may regret this purchase in the future, but for now, I think it’s a fun and remix-able piece for summer.
  • scatter dot shift dress {J.Crew via Poshmark*} $41 This dress was actually purchased with my pregnancy in mind. I bought it in a size bigger than my normal one, plus its forgiving shape should make it so I can wear it for a few more months. I’m thinking it might be a good option for a wedding we’re going to in New York City next month…
  • cap toe pumps {Banana Republic via Poshmark*} $27 I’ve been eyeing these pumps on Poshmark for quite some time now, and this month was finally the month I bit the bullet. When I realized that they would coordinate quite nicely with the above scatter dot dress, I decided they were worth it. However, when they arrived, they were a little tight on my feet. I’ve been using my shoe stretchers on them, so hopefully they’ll be comfortable enough.
  • blue ikat scarf {Merona via Poshmark*} $8 So, there’s a bit of a backstory to this one. I fell in love with this scarf in this pin but was heartbroken to find that the scarf is from several seasons ago. I tried to find something similar, but I’m a little picky about scarves (I’m not a fan of infinity scarves, and I don’t like them to be too heavy). Eventually, I found the exact scarf on Poshmark, and I scooped it up for a steal.
  • white linen skirt {J.Crew via Poshmark*} $31 I have a few of these elastic-waist skirts from J.Crew in different colors, and I thought a white one would be nice to have for the summer heat ahead.

*Sign up for Poshmark* with code BUJGC, and we each get a $5 credit!

June total: $151

2015 total: $1003

Remaining budget: $997

I think I’m at a point where I need to start looking at maternity clothing. I still fit into the majority of my normal clothes, but I think it’s good to stay a little ahead of the curve so as to avoid future meltdowns–“I have nothing to wear!” To start, I would like to find a few maxi dresses to add into rotation (a striped one, in particular) and maybe a few flowy tops. I’ve been eyeing a few different pairs of gold sandals too.

What did you buy in June?

  1. I am still bummed I never got anything in that gap floral print. I really wanted the dress but wasn’t going to pay full price and never saw it on sale. Just a tip for maternity clothes- Loft is awesome and frequently has super sales which make their stuff more reasonable.

    • Ugh, you are so right–maternity clothes ARE overpriced! And the quality can be really terrible too! I’ve been hunting down A Pea in the Pod items on clearance when I can, but otherwise I’m sticking to flowy non-maternity pieces.
