In my continued commitment to a clothing budget, I’ve decided to keep a running list of a few items I’d like to add to or replace in my wardrobe; having such a list certainly helps me reduce impulse purchases! As with all of my clothing purchases, fit is the primary concern, followed by quality and price. These priorities have shifted in importance over the years, but after a period of focusing primarily on price, I’ve found that fit and quality take precedence these days.
Anyway, here are the items I’ve identified as “nice to have” for this first portion of 2016.
a denim jacket
Yes, I know I already have a denim jacket, and I wear it all the time. I have no intention of giving it up anytime soon…but I would like to add one in a darker wash into rotation. I’d also like to find a denim jacket that is of decent quality; my current one is a Target clearance rack find that likely won’t last forever. I’ve been eyeing this one from J.Crew Factory–I’m just waiting for the next big sale.
Again, I technically already have a pair of olive pants, but they’re in need of replacement. My current pair came from Wal-Mart of all places, and they have served me well. However, they’re quite big in the waist now, and I would like to have the flexibility of not having to wear a belt with them all the time. I had hoped to snag this pair, but they appear to be sold out of my size. Any recommendations are welcome on this item!
a blue button-up
I bought a maternity blue oxford shirt over the summer, and I ended up wearing it quite a bit. I don’t have a non-maternity version of this shirt, so I’d like to remedy that. My taste leans toward preppy, so a shirt like this would certainly be easy to mix and match with my current wardrobe.
a full black skirt
In all honesty, I won’t have to dress up all that often for the next few months now that I’m home with Caleb. But, on the off chance that Seth and I have a date night or I want to look extra sassy for church one day, I think a black skirt in a full silhouette would be nice to have. I’ve noticed that I keep pinning looks that incorporate such skirts, so I’m fairly confident that I could come up with several ways to wear this Vince Camuto version.
What’s on your shopping radar these days?
