outfit brainstorm: the sneakers

It’s time for this month’s #momstyleremix link-up…and once again, I don’t really have many outfits in my archives that fit this month’s theme. Anne and Jenn have chosen to feature sneakers this month, and pretty much the only time I wear sneakers is for my morning runs, apparently. I do have some neglected sneakers (of the non-running variety) in my closet, so it’s high time I thought up some new outfits for them.

the leopard slip-ons

Leopard is considered a neutral these days, right? Nonetheless, I still don’t seem to reach for these leopard print slip-ons very often. I can see myself pairing them with a few of my favorite basics though–a denim jacket, a graphic tee, and my favorite olive chinos.

I’ve become a big fan of blush with black + white lately, so these shoes seemed like a good opportunity to play with that color combination. This outfit would be perfect for running errands on the weekend with Caleb.

Technically, I’ve worn these sneakers on the blog before–last summer when I was quite pregnant. The outfit below is very similar: striped t-shirt dress + red bag + gold watch. Adding this one to the queue for this spring!

I also tried to come up with a summer look with these sneakers. There’s something so appealing about the Taylor Swift-esque look of shorts with canvas sneaks. Honestly, I think this outfit would be cuter with white or a cheery colored sneaker, but it could work…

How would you wear sneakers?

  1. Very cute outfits! When I first got my leopard slip ons I didn’t wear them much. But now I wear them constantly! I do view them as a neutral to wear anytime I have black in my outfit… Which is a lot πŸ˜‰

  2. These sneakers are so cute – hopefully this gets you in the mood to wear them! You’ve got such a good mix of laid back yet polished outfits that are all great, but I think that first one has to be my favorite. So fun with the graphic tee and the leopard print together. And now I feel like going to play in my closet and laying out some outfits like this too πŸ™‚

  3. These are all such great combos–I love the first one especially (jean jackets are my fave)! I always about convince myself that I don’t *need* a pair of leopard slip on sneakers, then I see cute outfits like that and I can about talk myself into getting a pair. They’re so cute!

  4. I beg to differ – you have great options for your sneakers! It was definitely a challenge for me this month too πŸ™‚ I LOVE your first outfit – my olive green skinny pants are my go-to usually. I love how they coordinate with so much of my closet, and for sure with those cute leopard flats. I really feel like you came up with such a great assortment for the other ideas! All of them are chic and cute, and fit lots of different situations.
