take one, pass it on 2017: days 12-14

I’ve made it two weeks into this challenge, and I think I’ve hit my groove. I’m no longer grumpy about being limited in what I can wear and instead delighted by the opportunity to get creative with my closet. I guess it’s true what they say–it takes two weeks to form a new habit! Here’s a look at what I’ve worn over the past few days:

day twelve:

black striped tank: J.Crew Factory, similar // mustard skirt: Loft (I dyed it from a brighter shade of yellow, seen here), similar // black wedges: Jessica Simpson, exact // black leather strap watch: Kate Spade New York, similar // gray tortoise sunglasses: Warby Parker Banks, exact

day thirteen:

chambray button up: Old Navy, similar // mustard skirt: Loft, similar // leopard wedge sandals: Sam Edelman, similar

day fourteen:

chambray button up: Old Navy, similar // black gingham dress: Maison Jules, similar // black wedge sandals: Chaps, exact // red crossbody bag: Ann Taylor, similar // black + gold sunglasses: Warby Parker Lovett, exact

I think one key strategy in my attitude shift for this challenge is the fact that I set aside a few minutes at the beginning of the week to plan out my looks. Up until this point, I had kind of been haphazardly choosing an item to re-mix each day, and the end result was a mish-mash of boring outfits that I didn’t really like that much. I used my handy-dandy garment rack that my husband bought me for Christmas–check out a pic on IG!

  1. Ok that first outfit is perfection! That is sooo you in an outfit. Plus that pencil skirt fits you like a glove almost like it was custom made for you. I don’t know why you have not worn more pencil skirts like that in the past! Keep up the amazing work! Love the black wedges by the way. The first outfit wouldn’t have looked the same without them.

    • Yes, I love that skirt–that’s why I went to such lengths to keep it (dyeing it to the color I wanted). I wish more pencil skirts were this precise length–most of them hit me at or below the knee, which isn’t all that flattering on my body πŸ˜• as for the wedges, I have a backup pair for whenever these wear out–love them!

  2. If you don’t get those booties I will have to get them for you!!!!! They are that perfect for you. I think they are a must buy for you in every way possible.

When do you think you would wear them and with what type of outfits? I could see them as an everyday causal bootie for you!

    • I think they would be really cute with skinny jeans and maybe a plaid shirt/tunic or maybe a moto jacket. They’re also dressy enough that they could be worn with skirts too.
