nordstrom anniversary sale reviews

I’m sure by now you’re all completely OVER the #NSale madness–I know I am. I haven’t mentioned the sale up until today, but I thought I’d share my thoughts on the few items that I bought in case anyone is interested in putting in a last minute order (the sale ends August 6th).

Vince Camuto Francia bootie (size 9M, granite peak)

When I spotted these booties in the sale, I was immediately intrigued. My legs are bit on the short and thick side, so I look for booties with a low front shaft or some sort of an inset to elongate the leg (Audrey has explained this concept much better than I can). This pair definitely satisfies that criterion. They’re a bit out of my price range, even on sale, but I loved the silhouette enough to order them. Initially, Nordstrom estimated that these wouldn’t be delivered until late September, but I ended up getting them just a few days after ordering.

A few notes:

-The color is a pretty dark gray. In these “stellar” iPhone photos, they look almost black. Not necessarily a bad thing; it’s just something to be aware of.

-The boots have a bit of a strange smell right out of the box. Maybe that’s normal with suede?

-The fit is true to size. I normally wear a 9 or occasionally a 9.5, and the 9 was just right in these.

Verdict: Return. As cute as these are, the color is unique enough that I think I would have some difficulty incorporating the boots into my outfits. The price is also a little more than I’m comfortable with given the uncertainty regarding their versatility. If they end up further discounted at some point, I might re-order them.

Wit & Wisdom Ab-solution Stretch Ankle Skinny Jeans (size 4, black)

Technically, I just bought a pair of black jeans in January, but those were intended as a “temporary fix” to last me until I gained back some of the weight I lost during breastfeeding. I’m now much closer to my pre-pregnancy weight, so once again, I’m in need of some black jeans. I had never tried this brand before, but they seemed to be getting good reviews.

A few notes:

-These seem to fit true to size. Some claim that they run big, but I typically wear a size 4 in pants, and that’s what I ordered in these.

-The pants have this on the label: “featuring slimming panels constructed to hold and mold and boost your assets.” I would agree that these jeans have a bit of a yoga pant feel in that they seem to “hold everything in place.”

-The length is perfect on me–I’m 5’6″, for reference.

Verdict: Keep. I really liked the fit on these. I’m hoping they’ll retain their color; I’ve found that all of the black jeans I’ve bought from Loft (my go-to store for pants/jeans) fade after just a few washes.

Caslon Knit Blazer (extra small, black)

As I mentioned in my most recent wishlist post, I’m on the hunt for a lightweight black blazer since the weather rarely calls for wool around here. I liked the casual vibe of this particular blazer. I had to stalk it for a while to get my desired size/color, but it eventually popped back in stock a few days ago and arrived less than two days later!

A few notes:

-As you might expect for a relatively inexpensive, knit blazer, it is not lined.

-The reviews indicated that this blazer ran large, so I ordered a size down from my usual small. The fit seems just right.

-The fabric seems like it will attract dog hair, but that’s pretty normal for anything in my wardrobe!

Verdict: Keep. This is just what I was looking for, and I like it so much I might try to snag it in another color or two before the sale ends.

Two out of three isn’t bad! What did you buy (if anything) from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
