Happy New Year! I hope you all had a pleasant holiday season. Before we move on to 2018, I wanted to be sure to post one last outfit from a few weeks ago–my birthday outfit!
My family got together at my parents’ house for dinner (and dessert, of course) to celebrate my special day, and I opted to wear an outfit that’s been lingering on my Pinterest board for a year now. I traded the flats for heels and skipped the necklace, but otherwise I’d say my rendition was pretty close to the original. Had I been going somewhere fancier, I might have added my gold clutch to make a little more special.
In case you didn’t know, Alabama has been in the headlines a lot lately due to a special election for the Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions. I won’t get overly political here, but let’s just say that the stakes were high, and I think it would have been pretty disastrous had the Republican candidate won. Accordingly, I did my part and voted! Here’s what I wore for the occasion.
Again, I apologize for the wonky lighting in these photos. The daylight hours are limited, and the time that I’m home is even more limited…which means I have to settle for photos with some kinda crazy shadows!
I’m not sure why, but I rarely wear a top and bottom in the same color family. I just never think to go the monochrome route. When I saw this pin showing several different ways to wear a black tee, I decided to give it a try though.
I really like the look! The only thing I’m unsure about is the watch you see in the above picture. It’s technically “unisex,” but it looks so big on my wrist (40mm diameter). If only it were about 5mm smaller, it would be perfect! For the record, it’s the same one I featured in my most recent wishlist. I’m not sure it’s worth the trouble of returning it through the mail though, so I might just make it one of Seth’s stocking stuffers.
