cardigan love

When Anne and Jenn announced the theme for this month’s #momstyleremix, I was pretty psyched–after all, I love me some cardigans. Specifically, I love the cardigans from J.Crew and J.Crew Factory; I find that the fitted, crew-neck style is the most versatile for my work wardrobe. However, I must admit that my ivory open cardigan has been a favorite since becoming a mom!

Below are two remixes I’ve shared previously: one for my hunter green cardigan and one for my mustard cardigan. Both remain favorites in my closet; putting together this post is a good reminder to pull them out again sometime soon!

What kind of cardigans do you wear most often? How do you like to wear them?

remix it: the white shorts

It’s starting to feel like summer around here, which means shorts season is not far away. White shorts have long been a wardrobe staple for me; I even made sure to have a maternity pair last summer. Admittedly, they probably look a lot better on ladies with lovely tan legs, but they’re still a summertime favorite of mine. Here’s a look at how I’ve worn white shorts over the past year:

white shorts options: J.Crew Factory {chino} // 7 for All Mankind {cutoff} // Vineyard Vines {jacquard} // English Factory {scalloped} // Painted Threads {eyelet}

Obviously, white shorts are neutral enough that you can pair them with pretty much anything; they’re also easily dressed up (with a ruffled blouse) or down (with a striped tee). My chino version have served me well over the years, but after putting together this post, I’m thinking that maybe an eyelet pair would be fun to have too…

remix it: the floral scarf

Now that it’s officially spring around here, I am embracing the few floral pieces I have in my closet. One of my favorite such pieces is my floral scarf. It has a very dark navy background which can also pass as black, so it’s been really versatile. Here’s how I’ve worn it over the past year:

floral scarf options: Lands’ End {multicolor w. fringe} // Lands’ End {purple + white} // Ralph Lauren {silk} // Charming Charlie {soft pink + white} // Gap {navy + white} // True Religion {black + white}

Evidently, I’m a fan of pairing this scarf with all sorts of denim/chambray. I might try pairing it with a black dress again sometime soon–hopefully it will look a bit better now that I’m not 6 months pregnant! I hope to get several more wears out of this scarf before it gets too hot. In particular, I’d like to try dressing it up a bit more by pairing with dresses and skirts.

remix it: the red flats

I have to admit, my choice for this month’s re-mix item is kind of selfish. Given my recent infatuation with flats, I’m contemplating buying a nicer quality pair of red ones. To see if it would be a worthwhile expense (i.e., I would wear them enough), I decided to sort through the archives…and, well, here we are.

I actually wore these flats several more times on the blog in addition to the looks you see here, but let’s just say those are photos I’d rather not dig up from the blog archives. Anyway, I was surprised at how much wear I’ve gotten from these guys. They’re kind of a strange shade of red (slightly neon?), which I always thought made them harder to wear, but I still managed to have found quite a few ways to wear them. I seem to like the way this shade of red pairs with gray and shades of chambray. In fact, I kind of want to re-wear all these outfits again! But, in the interest of creativity, I might try wearing them with some of my printed dresses this spring and summer. I don’t think I’m ready to upgrade just yet…mostly because I can’t decide what style I would want! Check out the options I’ve linked to above for just a sampling of what I came across in my search.
