If this week of blog posts were an album, it would be “Summer 2016 Greatest Hits”–all of my outfits seem to be ones I’ve worn several times over the course of the past few months. Today’s look is no exception. Although this skirt is unlike anything else in my closet, I really do like it. There are a few different shades of blue in it, making it a good match for cobalt or navy blue. The pattern is interesting too; it reminds me of one of those Magic Eye posters from ’90s.
So, this was a good outfit on a bad day. I had a productive morning and was definitely in a work fugue…when daycare called. Caleb has a fever and mysterious rashes on his chest and arms. Mommy duty calls. Now I’m working from home, while keeping an eye on him and waiting for our doctor’s appointment. Fingers crossed that it’s nothing serious and that my baby feels better soon!
A few weeks ago, Seth’s coworkers were kind enough to put together a belated baby shower for us. Because Caleb was born around Christmas time, I guess our happy arrival kind of got forgotten amidst the holiday chaos. (I hate to break it to you kid, but that’s how your birthday will be for the rest of your life!).
It worked out well though because Caleb got to come to his own baby shower! Here’s what he wore:
If you ever happen to peruse my archives (who am I kidding? I’m the only one who does that!), you’ll notice that I almost always pair cobalt with black + white. I can’t help it–I just love the combination. Clearly, today’s outfit is no exception.
I bought these shorts right around the time I started this blog, long before the whole gingham trend took over blog land. I’m glad I held onto them for this long! For the record, the only way they’re staying up on my pregnant bod is due to the help of a Bella Band.
This look was also the perfect opportunity to wear my new Rae necklace, purchased during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I think it’ll be featured here many more times in the future!
The theme for the pieces in today’s outfit is definitely “needlessly neglected.” First up: this striped skirt.
I wore this skirt once in a blog post last summer, promptly ruined it in the wash, and then tirelessly hunted (and found!) a replacement. Then I never wore it. Why? I have no idea. But I am very glad to have it now that I am pregnant–it’s made of a stretchy material, making it very forgiving and comfortable for a growing midsection.
I have also neglected this black necklace. I bought it using a Christmas gift card sometime last winter but never got around to featuring it in a blog post. It seemed liked the right choice for the neckline on this top, and I really like the end result. Note to self: wear this more often!
