the shirt for all seasons

Although nothing can ever compare to my beloved stripes, gingham is a close second in my eyes when it comes to favorite patterns. I have owned several gingham shirts over the years, but this navy one probably gets the most love–check it out here, here, here, and here.

If you clicked through those posts, you’ll notice that I wear this thing year-round–it’s great for layering in the cooler months, and it’s lightweight enough for 95-degree days like this one. Maybe someday it will be cool enough to wear it with jeans again…is it fall yet?

lace + olive

DSC_5181Ever since I got these maternity pants, I’ve wanted to pair them with my lace top. I’m a big fan of ivory + olive together in general, so I thought they would make for a halfway decent maternity outfit.

DSC_5174Well, I’m not so pleased with the end result. I think the top is just slightly too short for the pants, making for an even weirder silhouette on a pregnant body. Oh, well–at least I tried!

DSC_5210Here’s a “bumpdate”–this picture was taken at 31 weeks exactly, although I’m 32 weeks + 5 days as I type this post. I’m still feeling good, albeit a little nervous about all I have left to do over the next 6 weeks or so!

coral + cognac(s)

DSC_3647To be honest, this dress is not my favorite maternity purchase, at least for these warmer weather months. I ordered up a size to account for a bigger belly later on, and I think the end result makes me look, well, matronly. I still have hope that I can make this dress work with the magic of layering later this fall!

DSC_3644Does anyone else obsess about whether her leathers (whether they be genuine or faux) match? No? Well, I just have to confess that it really bothers me that my belt is not a precise match to the leather on my sandals. So much so that I even raided Seth’s closet to see if he had a belt that was a closer match (no luck, sadly). I’m seriously contemplating buying another cognac belt in a slightly lighter shade…

stripes + leopard

DSC_2541One good thing about this pregnancy is that it’s forcing me to really dig through the depths of my wardrobe–now that my staple pieces are getting too small, I’m re-visiting old favorites.

DSC_2531This striped dress, for example, is coming in handy these days. It was a little big pre-pregnancy such that I always needed a layer on top, but I can now wear it on its own. Plus, it’s super lightweight, making it perfect for this heat wave we’ve been having!
