camel + green

I guess it’s all the Christmas trees around, but this time of year I want to wear forest green all the time. I dug around on my Pinterest board and found an outfit or two combining camel + green, so I decided to try to make that color palette work.

Aside from the fact that this outfit makes me blend in with my backyard (ha!), I do like this outfit. I have a skirt in a similar color to these pants, so I can see multiple iterations of this look in the coming weeks!

buffalo plaid at last

Just about a year ago, I spotted this look and loved it but didn’t have the pieces to re-create it. I kind of forgot about it for a while (as is typical for the outfits I save on Pinterest) until this fall when J.Crew Factory featured this skirt a few months ago. I waited patiently for a good sale and bought it.

Obviously, for the first wear I had to re-create the aforementioned look. I was just wearing it to a casual dinner with family, so skipped the necklace and clutch. I really like the way it turned out! I have a few more ideas for how to wear this skirt, so be prepared to see it again in the future. How would you wear a buffalo plaid skirt?

the shearling vest

I actually thrifted this vest quite some time ago, but I haven’t worn it because I didn’t really know how to wear it. You would think it would be relatively easy to style, given its neutral color…but I just couldn’t find the right pieces in my closet. I recently acquired both this ivory blouse and the tan mule booties that happen to match the vest perfectly, so I seized the opportunity to try out the combination.

It’s pretty simple, but I really like the look. It was perfect for a day of grocery shopping (amongst crazy pre-Thanksgiving crowds!) and cooking. But now I need more inspiration…how would you wear a shearling vest?

the same but different

I’ve been blogging long enough now that I sometimes draw outfit inspiration from myself. Case in point: I wore an outfit very similar to this about two years ago, right after my son was born.

I remembered that outfit recently and decided to re-create it with newer items in my wardrobe. I traded out the wool skirt (which has since been donated–it wasn’t very practical for our mild winters) for a suede skirt in the same color; I also switched out the booties for some comfy mules. The end result was an outfit in which I felt comfortable and relatively put together. Unfortunately, campus was pretty deserted due to the holiday, so no one got to see my outfit…guess I’ll just have to wear it again next week!
