Take One, Pass It On: Day 31

DSC_0163

It’s the last day of this challenge! It’s been rough taking pictures of my outfit every day for 31 days, but I’m glad I did it. As I mentioned before, I will post a more thoughtful summary in the next few days.

For now though, let’s focus on the final look. Unfortunately, I’m finishing out this challenge with an outfit I’m not all that excited about–it’s not exactly flattering, mostly due to poor fit. I loved this peplum top when I first bought it last spring, but it’s a bit too big right now, which means I really need to belt it to adequately define my waist.  I was far too lazy for such things when I wore this outfit, so the end result is slightly frumpy. Oh well–lesson learned!

Take One, Pass It On: Day 10

OK, I’ll be honest and say that my sartorial creativity is waning at this point. In looking at my outfits for the remainder of the week, I’m not terribly excited about wearing them (although my weekend outfits will be fun). Even though I work in a pretty casual environment (i.e., academia), I find myself trapped by a lot of rules, some self-imposed and some not. The weather is a major factor, as I’d rather not sweat all day, and the breastfeeding issue adds another dimension to the dilemma. Plus, there’s always the lingering concern in the back of my mind–“Is this professional enough?”Sometimes getting dressed is hard.

All that being said, I’m continuing with the Take One, Pass It On challenge; I’m just warning you that not all of these looks are going to be wildly interesting. How’s that for enticing you to return to my blog? Ha! Today, I at least attempted to add some element of interest with my long neglected turquoise necklace–it’s one of my favorite pieces of jewelry.

hello, moto

DSC_8438Last winter, I was bound and determined to find a boucle moto jacket–you may recall that I devoted a post to reviewing four of them. In the end, I returned all of them and eventually found something I liked at Banana Republic Factory.

DSC_8413Almost a year (and a pregnancy) later, I’m finally getting around to wearing the jacket I worked so hard to find. I kept things pretty simple this time around by pairing it with mostly black…and a little pink.

DSC_8453Also, as a side note: I received these sunglasses as an anniversary gift last November, and they’re definitely my favorite pair these days! I highly recommend Warby Parker’s shades!

stumped

DSC_8211Although I try to buy clothing items that can be remixed easily, occasionally I do buy something just because it makes me happy. Case in point: this patterned gray top.

DSC_8203There isn’t much gray in my closet, and I really liked the “deco” print on this tee, so I figured that was sufficient justification when I bought it last December. The trouble is, I’ve found it a bit difficult to style since it arrived. Pairing it with black pants is about all I can think of at this point. How would you wear this top?
