olive and ivory…2 years later

One of my favorite color combinations for pretty much any season is olive + ivory + brown. The combination just seems so classic and very “me” every time I wear it. That’s why you can find it throughout the archives: here, here, here, here, here.

Anyway, today’s looks a a do-over of one I wore back in January 2015. As you can see, this version includes a similar dress, an olive cardigan, and sandals instead of boots. I’m thinking this dress will be on repeat this fall because it is SO comfy and the perfect length. I might need to devote a post to brainstorming new ways to wear it…any ideas?

If you happened to have followed along on my Take One, Pass It On challenge in July, then you’ve seen this top styled twice already. For a printed top, I’m surprised at how many different ways I’ve managed to wear it in the span of a month! This time around I paired it with some green Sloan pants that match ever so perfectly.

I really liked this outfit and felt pretty great wearing it…until a series of events happened that turned the day into a terrible, horrible, no good, ┬ávery bad one. Within the span of a few hours, I got stung by a bee, my “monthly visitor” arrived, and my car battery died. Thank goodness my husband was able to rescue me from that last one at least. I may or may not have drowned my sorrows in a few spoonfuls of peanut butter when I got home.

How do you make yourself feel better after a bad day?

At long last, the final few outfits on this summer’s Take One, Pass It On challenge! I really liked these last few looks and can see myself repeating all of them in the future.

day thirty:

day thirty-one:

I’ll admit, there were times that I was a little hot in these last two outfits owing to the whole pants thing. But, in the overly air-conditioned offices and stores I frequent, I was glad to have the extra coverage. I’ll post a re-cap post of this month’s outfits shortly so that I can reflect on the experience and use it to inform my future wardrobe choices.

Thanks for following along!

Welp, we’ve officially made it to the part of the summer when it’s completely unbearable to be outside for more than a few minutes at a time. Translation: I’ve been dressing for the heat. Lightweight dresses and skirts from now until October, friends!

day twenty-seven:

Yet another benefit of these style challenges is that it’s encouraging me to wear pieces that I’ve long neglected. Case in point: the black lace skirt. It has sat in my closet for 2.5 years, and I just pulled the tags off yesterday. You would think it would be relatively versatile (and I think it is), but it’s just a wee bit tight in the waist and a bit too short for work, which is probably why I never reach for it. Debating whether it deserves to stay in my closet…
