summer weekends

To be frank, this outfit isn’t all that exciting, but I’ve worn some variation of it at least ten times this summer, so I figured it deserved a post on the blog. I think the reason I love it so much is due to the comfort of the shorts–they’re about a size and a half too big, which leaves plenty of room for delicious meals at restaurants 🙂 The shorts are also a good starting point for choosing different tops; thus far, I’ve also worn them with gray, green, and chambray (see that look here).

This particular summer weekend was spent taking Caleb to the library, enjoying lunch at Zoe’s, browsing through my favorite thrift and consignment stores, and watching a few episodes of Ozark.

Take One, Pass It On: Day 15

It’s Monday again, and I feel much more refreshed than I did this time last week, even thought this weekend was much more action-packed than the last. We (finally!) scheduled Caleb’s baptism, started house-hunting, went to church, and celebrated my dad’s birthday. It was busy, but enjoyable. Now, if only work were like that too…

This outfit was a good balance between casual and put together, which is a characteristic I’m constantly in search of when it comes to weekend wear. It’s so tempting to hang out in my gym clothes all weekend long, but this challenge has been a good motivator to take the time to look presentable, even during my days off. As a bonus, Caleb LOVES these shorts–the neon color and jacquard texture makes for a pretty fascinating combination, apparently.

neon floral + chambray

DSC_2505Although I bought these floral shorts several weeks ago (I mentioned them in my June budget post), I’m just now getting around to wearing them. I actually had assumed that I would have to wait until next spring to wear them, as my belly has grown quite a bit lately. I was pleasantly surprised though when I tried them on–they fit! Even better, I discovered that they’re actually from Gap’s talls section, which gives them a little extra length.

DSC_2493While I love this print, I’m finding that I really don’t have many tops that match the colors in it. The best I could do for this first go-around was a chambray shirt and a peachy/orangey belt. What tops would you wear with these shorts?

another day, another maxi dress

DSC_2378The title says it all. I’m wearing yet another maxi dress in today’s outfit, but you won’t be seeing this one around again anytime soon. To be fair, I’m trying to make the most of my regular clothes before stocking up on maternity wear…but this attempt was no good.

DSC_2370Pre-pregnancy, I remember this dress being really comfortable and stretchy. Not so much these days. It clung (is that the past tense of cling?) to my body in all the wrong places. I tried to improve things with a belt under my bust, but it kept falling down. Plus, the fabric of this dress is apparently a dog hair magnet. So this dress may be destined for just being a swimsuit cover-up in the future. At least it was only $8!
