gray dots + red

DSC_7368I’ve liked the combination of gray + red for a while now, but I’ve never really been able to make it work. (See this outfit for proof!)

DSC_7353After seeing Lisa’s look a few weeks ago, I decided to try this color combination again. I’m happier with the results this time. Polka dots make everything better right?

DSC_7373In full disclosure, this outfit didn’t last long as you see it here. After peeling off my sweater twice for Caleb’s feedings, I decided to just forget it. #momlife

a blazer…just because

DSC_7008These days, I really don’t have to look professional. I only have to be on campus one day per week during my maternity leave, and even then, I can get away with wearing jeans. However, I am still pretty jazzed about being able to wear all my normal (i.e., non-maternity) clothes again, so I find myself reaching for professional clothing…just because.

DSC_6984Specifically, I am loving my blazer collection. On this particular day, I decided to show some love for my camel blazer, which I haven’t worn since my second trimester.

DSC_7013Once again, I paired it with a few other neutrals, plus my burgundy pumps. I’m thinking next time around it would be fun to pair this blazer with some navy gingham!

needs improvement

DSC_6714I pinned this look several months ago, but I had been “saving” it as an outfit idea until after pregnancy. I finally decided to re-create the look last week…only to discover that the pieces in my closet could use a little updating.

DSC_6708In fact, it was this outfit that prompted the creation of my shopping list post last week. As you can see, both the pants and the denim jacket are looking a little tired (OK, and I am too–a one-month old infant will do that to you!). As a result, the re-created outfit is not quite what I imagined it would be. Whomp, whomp. I guess I’ll have to try again once I’ve found the perfect items from my wishlist!

dots + wine

DSC_6650These burgundy or “wine”-colored pants have been something I’ve been really anxious to wear ever since I gave birth a few weeks ago. I bought them a few months ago while I was still pregnant–so I was taking a gamble as to whether I would be able to wear them postpartum. Fortunately, they seem to fit just fine, so I’m already getting a start on all the outfit ideas I had dreamed up for them.

DSC_6648I wore this first look when my in-laws were visiting a few weeks ago to meet Caleb. I figured that it was an occasion that merited something more presentable than the pajamas I had been wearing up to that point…

DSC_6658One of the things I love about burgundy is that it looks great with both brown and black alike. This time around I went with the black + ivory route, but I’m thinking the next look will feature some ivory + cognac. How would you wear a pair of burgundy pants?
