This post marks a new first–the first time I’ve been brave enough to mix plaid + stripes. When it comes to pattern mixing, I’m not very bold–most of the time it’s just mixing a striped top with a leopard bag or something else similarly subtle.
But this time around, I was daring enough to pair a striped top with a plaid scarf. I’m living on the edge, I tell you. Well, actually, I just really wanted to wear this scarf that I got for my birthday last month.
So are you tired of seeing these pants yet? I hope not, as they’re one of maybe three pairs of pants that I still find comfortable.
This time, I tried to switch things up a little bit by pairing them with navy blue instead of the usual black. I know–I’m livin’ on the edge, guys! This color combination is actually one of my favorites, particularly for fall. Which colors are you wearing more now that summer is over?
Now that it’s officially fall, I’m starting to see ladies around blog-land and campus wear booties with dresses + skirts. It’s a look that I love, but I’ve always been hesitant to try myself. The closest I’ve come is last winter when I wore my black booties with tights a few times. Otherwise, I haven’t been bold enough to try the booties + skirt look.
Then I saw Audrey’s post last week with lots of tips for rocking this look.
I decided it was worth a try…and I don’t hate the results. I think the key is making sure my ankles are showing, as I have larger, muscular calves. We’ll see if I can try this look in a few other ways over the next few months!
