Take One, Pass It On: Day 16

DSC_9865

Well, this outfit was not a winner, folks. I thought it would be, as one of my favorite maternity looks was this one from last year. But, the problem with this version boils down to ill-fitting pants and a deep self-consciousness about the size of my bottom half. The pretty goldenrod-colored pants fit my postpartum body a bit strangely, as they’re far too big in the waist now, and they stretch to about a size bigger everywhere else over the course of the day. Plus, when I looked back at these photos, I decided that wearing flats with these pants made my look fat (I realize I’m not overweight, but, hey, we all have those days…), so I wore these sandals instead.

Regardless, the end result of this look was not good. It did not function well for my day of office work and a visit to the dentist in that I was pulling up my pants all day and worried that my butt looked gigantic. In the future, I might try to find another version of these pants (i.e., a smaller size, or perhaps a skirt in the same color), or maybe I’ll just gain weight so that these pants fit again. That latter option sounds more fun 🙂

rough day

DSC_7062I’ll be honest–the day that I wore this outfit was a rough one. Caleb was a crank-pot all morning, and just as I got him calmed down, it was time to take him to the pediatrician’s office. Well, as you might imagine, he did not enjoy being poked and prodded and proceeded to cry wail through the whole appointment. By the end of the day, I was pretty wiped.

DSC_7050The silver lining is that the doctor recommended something for the little dude’s distress (probiotics for colicky babies = magic!). Oh, and I got to wear an outfit that had been lingering on my Pinterest board for months. So there’s that.

navy + mustard

DSC_5152When I first got dressed on this particular morning, I had just paired this pin dot dress with my mustard scarf and my pearl earrings. But something about it seemed too “flight attendant”-esque for my taste. So I ditched the pearl earrings and added my trusty denim jacket.

DSC_5147I’m not sure I totally love the end result, but it suited my needs for that day just fine. I’m running out of creative styling ideas for my maternity staples (such as this navy dress). I need to get the creative juices flowing for these last 7 weeks or so!

mmm mustard

DSC_4501I haven’t been experiencing many intense cravings during this pregnancy, but the one exception to that statement is mustard. From the first trimester on, I’ve been putting mustard on everything, much to the disgust of those around me.

DSC_4499For all my mustard love, I have been pretty neglectful of the color mustard. I suppose it’s because I think of it as more of an autumn color than anything else…or maybe that’s just me? Regardless, it seemed like the perfect addition to my otherwise boring little black dress.
